The RainwaterHOG is a totally different approach to catching the
rainwater
from your roof and storing it for
re-use in your home and garden. Instead of being shaped in the
classic barrel or column shape, the RainwaterHOG is designed as a tall,
flat shape, making it ideal for storing water in spaces where a classic
water butt will not fit. The best examples of these spaces are under
your terrace decking, or along a narrow alley down the side of
your property.
 |
The RainwaterHOG is ideal if you're looking to
use less tap water because you want to help the environment or because
you want to save
money on your water bill. The RainwaterHOG is a visually discreet and
highly functional modular
water tank that is simple to attach to your household
plumbing
system. Each
tank holds 183 litres of captured rainwater, and you
can connect together as many tanks as you need. |
Water is an extremely valuable commodity, vital for human life and
health, as well as for animals and plants. The rainwater
captured
by the RainwaterHOG can be used for flushing the toilet and washing
laundry if you have a suitable grey water plumbing system, or simply
for
irrigating your
garden and washing your car.
Rainwater harvesting the environmental way
Installing the RainwaterHOG will
cut
your carbon footprint.
Tap water is processed in energy intensive water treatment plants to
make it suitable for drinking, washing, and for use in hospitals and
the food and drinks industry. It's a huge waste of energy to
use
this heavily processed water to flush the loo, clean your laundry, or
water your vegetable patch. By using rainwater for these, you
can reduce your tap water use by up to 50%.
The RainwaterHOG is a green product. It's manufactured from 100%
recyclable plastic with energy supplied from natural gas.
Cost Benefits
Rainwater is freely available. Making use of the rain that
falls
on the roof can reduce tap water use by up to 50%, significantly
reducing
the water bill of metered households. Furthermore
rainwater is soft water,
so it won't lead to a build up of calcium in
your plumbing.
Invest for the Future
The RainwaterHOG is an investment in your future. As global
warming increases, water is going to become increasingly scarce and
more expensive. Collecting rainwater at every opportunity
will
become the norm rather than the exception.
During major disasters where mains water is no longer available such
as the UK floods during 2007 the RainwaterHOG provides an emergency
water supply. According to Red Cross guidelines,
one RainwaterHOG
tank provides emergency water for two adults for 25 days,
whilst two
RainwaterHOG tanks provide emergency water for a family of four for 10
days.
Design
The RainwaterHOG is designed to be long-lasting, functional, and
visually discreet. Each H2OG modular tank is rotomoulded in
virgin polyethylene. Polyethylene is impact resistant,
robust,
and durable: it won't spill or puncture. The tank material
is designed to last rather than be disposable, but it is
recyclable. It is
guaranteed for one
year and is engineered to last at least 20 years. UV
stabiliser
and anti-algae additives are manufactured into the polyethylene,
so your RainwaterHOG won't fade in the sun and your stored rainwater
will remain pure.
The slim design of the RainwaterHOG makes it visually
discreet.
Three colours are available to match the style of your home and garden
Olive Green, Charcoal Grey, and Sandstone
Installation
The narrow profile of the RainwaterHOG means it can be installed almost
anywhere and can fit into spaces previously unavailable to water
tanks. It can sit flat, on its side, or stand upright, making
it
flexible enough to suit almost any home situation. The
RainwaterHOG can be fixed to the side of your house, along your garden
fence,
under your deck
or patio, or along the back of your garden
bed. If
you're using the RainwaterHOG as part of a new build or an extension,
it can be installed in or under your housing structure.
Because
it installs so close to your house, you will
save money on installation costs and avoid long, ugly pipe runs. As a
rule of thumb, three hogs can be installed in under 30 minutes.
The modular design of the RainwaterHOG means it can be extended for
increased capacity if your needs change.
The RainwaterHOG is designed to work with conventional plumbing
components. There are no stands or footings, and all the
fittings are fully
reusable, making the RainwaterHOG suitable for rented properties.
