Turn off your television, DVD player and set-top box at the mains using
your remote control. This
eco-friendly
plug will save you
money
off
your energy bills and
reduce
your carbon footprint by banishing standby mode from all
your TV
equipment.
Say Goodbye to Standby
The TV Intelliplug recognises signal from your television's remote
control, so you can turn off your TV and all attached peripherals at
the mains using a single remote control.
Saving power is easy
because the
Intelliplug automatically turns off your TV at the mains whenever you
leave it in standby mode. No more will you need to get up
from
your arm chair and fiddle with switches to turn off standby.
The Intelliplug is easy to set up – simply plug in and
calibrate.
It uses auto-calibration to work out your TV's remote control signal.
This means it always knows when you've put your TV on
standby,
and
switches off mains
power
at the right time, every time.
With a twenty second reaction time, you won't be left waiting around
for your equipment to power up.
Slash your energy bills
A
TV plug with
an
automatic power switch
means no more
wasted power. TV
equipment left on
standby
uses an average of 35 watts of energy per hour, costing your money and
increasing your carbon footprint. The TV Intelliplug uses
just
0.5 watts per hour.
Saving every possible watt of energy is becoming increasingly important
in the fight against
global warming,
and as
energy bills rise.
Recent research by price comparison site uSwitch.com found energy bills
have doubled in the last five years.
Half a million Intelliplugs and Intellipanels have already been sold,
saving an estimated 23 million tonnes of
carbon emissions.
Give Your TV a Longer Life
Using the TV Intelliplug will prolong the life of your TV, DVD player,
set-top box, games consoles and other equipment. Research
shows
that leaving TV equipment on standby reduces equipment lifespan by an
average of 15%, as well as creating an unnecessary fire risk.
Using the Intelliplug is
better
for
your TV equipment than manually switching off at the mains
because the Intelliplug waits until your TV has fully powered down into
standby state before turning it off. Switching off mains
power
prematurely can damage the components inside your TV, or reset the
software inside digital TVs.
In addition, the Intelliplug automatically works out the optimum amount
of power to send to your TV equipment to create the least amount of
circuit stress. This lengthens the life of components, making
your TV less likely to break down.
Built-in surge protection protects your TV against power surges and
spikes. The Intelliplug includes a thermal fuse to protect
against catastrophic power spikes.
Keeping your TV in tip-top condition is
good for the environment.
The longer
a TV lasts, the longer it stays out of landfill.
Record your Favorite TV
shows
The Intelliplug still lets you record your favourite TV shows with a
Sky+ box or freeview recorder. A permanent power socket is
built
in for items that need to be left on standby to record programmes.
Use with Standard
Extension Cables
The TV Intelliplug features three sockets, and is designed to be used
in conjunction with a standard extension cable.

FAQs
My Television/Audio
Visual
IntelliPlug™ doesn’t seem to be working?
We have found on numerous occasions (and
we include
ourselves in this) that the labyrinth of cables we hide behind our TV’s
can get a bit muddled up. It is very important that the television is
plugged into the mains socket, so it might be worth checking that
before we go any further! You might want to check the television
configuration instructions again. Please ensure all of the connected
plugs/extensions are seated properly, if they aren’t pushed all the way
in they may not be connecting correctly.
Why is my television
switching on and
off intermittently?
In order to fully calibrate the
Television/Audio
Visual IntelliPlug™ you must switch off your television after you have
switched it on for the first time. The IntelliPlug™ uses something
called ‘Auto Calibration’. In order for this to work properly your
television must go through an on and off cycle. The IntelliPlug™ will
then learn to adapt to your televisions’ unique patterns of energy
consumption. We suggest you see the Re-set instructions for a step by
step guide.
Can I plug anything other
than a TV
into the Master Socket?
Yes, you may decide to use your
amplifier as the
Master Device and that’s fine. However, we do not recommend using
equipment such as a video recorder or DVD player in the Master Socket.
You can view this set up by looking at the amplifier configuration
instructions.
Can I use my Desktop
computer with the
Television/Audio Visual IntelliPlug™?
Yes, you may want to check the computer
configuration instructions. You can use a desktop computer as the
Master Device. However, the Master Socket on the Television/Audio
Visual IntelliPlug™ is not permanently powered, this means that all
your equipment will be switched off. A better solution is to use the
Intellipanel
Desktop.
Can I use my laptop with
my
Television/Audio Visual Intelliplug?
No, laptops have an internal battery
which may
confuse the Auto Calibration system. For laptops please use
USB105.
Does switching my
television and
peripherals on and off reduce the lifespan of the system?
No. Things have moved on in leaps and
bounds since
the old days and the performance of modern electrical components is no
longer compromised by turning appliances on and off (so we don’t have
an excuse for not doing it!).
The Television/Audio
Visual
IntelliPlug™ switches power off after a delay of thirty seconds, is
this normal?
Absolutely, we called it the
IntelliPlug™ for a
reason. As modern technology advances, so too does the sophistication
of household gadgets. Automatic downloads to digital televisions are
becoming more and more common. Recognising that it would be detrimental
to an electrical system to switch off mid download, the IntelliPlug™
will only power down your equipment once it is sure no more power is
required by the Master Device(for down loading etc). It decides this by
continuously measuring the flow of electricity actually being used, so
if it takes a little while to switch off it’s nothing to worry about!
Does the Television/Audio
Visual
IntelliPlug™ have surge protection?
Yes, it has surge protection for the
Master Device
and all peripherals.
What is the life
expectancy of the
Television/Audio Visual IntelliPlug™?
We’re big believers in producing quality
innovations
and we think selling poor quality products to our customers is
unacceptable. We have designed the IntelliPlug™ to last for more than 1
million cycles, that’s down to hard wearing parts and technical
innovation. You can use the Television/Audio Visual IntelliPlug™ more
than 180 times a day and it should still work for more than 15 years. It
will pay for itself many times over and we think that’s only fair! Even
our original panel is still working after 18 years and you can imagine
how much we’ve put that through!
Can the Television/Audio
Visual
IntelliPlug™ damage my equipment?
No. We wouldn’t supply you with a
product that we
weren’t 100% happy with. The OneClick products can actually help your
equipment last longer, by reducing stress to the components when you
switch the peripherals on and off. This is down to our patented Zero
Crossing Detection.
One of my peripherals
switches off but
does not switch back on, why is this?
In very few instances, some peripherals
have soft
switches, which automatically default to ‘off’ in the event of a power
cut. We’re sorry but in this instance you will have to manually switch
the power on to this device. (The IntelliPlug™ is clever but we haven’t
found a way for it to physically turn things on yet…but we are working
on it!)
Do I need an additional
remote control
to operate the Television/Audio Visual IntelliPlug™?
No. We don’t believe in wasting money
and resources
so we designed the IntelliPlug™ to detect the fall in current when you
switch your Master device off, only then, will the IntelliPlug™ power
down your peripherals automatically. However, the remote sensor learns
the signature of your remote control on button to reactivate your
television into standby.
How do I programme the
remote sensor
to recognise my remote control?
Simple, just visit our remote sensor
page.
What colour should the
light inside
the remote sensor be?
This depends on the production model,
the light may
be green or orange in either case your sensor will not be affected.
Can I activate the
Television/Audio
Visual IntelliPlug™ manually if I lose my remote control?
Of course, to manually activate the
IntelliPlug™ all
you have to do is press the button on top of the remote sensor and
activate your master device within thirty seconds. For more
instructions visit the remote sensor page.
I have more than one
peripheral device
that I need to plug into the Television/Audio Visual IntelliPlug™, how
do I achieve this?
All you need to do is use the
IntelliPlug™ in
conjunction with a trailing socket or adaptor (the ones we all have
lying around the house). We have tried to make our products as
versatile and as adaptable as possible, by using the IntelliPlug™ in
this way you won’t have wasted any money on those trailing
sockets/adaptors and you’re saving electricity. There’s no need to
worry about safety, our products are designed to meet British
Standards, which means that they are entirely safe to use in this
manner. Doesn’t that feel good?
Can I plug more than 1
device into the
Master Socket?
We do not advise plugging more than one
device into
the Master Socket as this may confuse the Auto Calibration system.
Can I timer record to my
Video/DVD
recorder from my Sky Digibox using the Television/Audio Visual
IntelliPlug™?
We would hate to be responsible for you
missing your
favourite programmes, so if you want to timer record from your digibox
to your video or DVD recorder we recommend that you connect both
appliances to a separate wall socket. After all we wouldn’t want you to
miss the latest episode of Tomorrow’s world! NB. The sky socket on the
IntelliPlug™ is only designed to be used when the digibox is not
required for timer recording.
Can I use the
IntelliPlug™ in
conjunction with Sky+ and Sky HD and still record my programmes?
We would hate to be responsible for you
missing your
favourite programmes, so if you want to record we recommend that you
leave your Sky+ or Sky HD connected to a wall socket. After all we
wouldn’t want you to miss the latest episode of Tomorrow’s world! NB.
The sky socket on the IntelliPlug™ is only designed to be used when the
digibox is not required for timer recording.
Why does the standby
light on my
television take up to a minute to go off?
These small ‘standby’ lights are called
LED’s (Light
Emitting Diodes) they are a very energy efficient bulb. The residual
energy stored in these tiny lights can power them for a minute or so
after the electricity has been switched off.
What function does the
dedicated sky
socket perform?
The dedicated sky socket is designed
specifically
for Sky Digital. When you turn off your television the peripherals will
switch off together with your Sky Digital Box. The Sky Digital Box will
be powered back in to standby after 30 seconds. This automatically
re-sets your Sky Box and places it in to standby mode ready for use.
The Sky socket is not recommended for Sky + or Sky HD.
