The Solar Mate Point 5 is the ideal solar powered lighting solution for
a garden shed, summer house, or outbuilding. It is cheap, simple and
quick to install, and does a great job of providing light for medium length tasks. If you have a shed that needs lighting, but you have no mains
electricity, the Solar Mate Point 5 is a brilliant solution.
Low price utility lighting using solar power
The Solar Mate Point 5 really can be installed in minutes, very simply
- full instructions are included. The light unit contains 10 super
bright LEDs which can illuminate an area of 9 square metres
(approximately 93 square feet). It can be turned on and off using the
manual On/Off switch
or by the
remote control
that is supplied.
The solar panel uses an advanced Thin Film solar cell technology to
charge the three AA rechargeable batteries which are located in the
light unit. The solar panel charges most efficiently if it is in direct
sunlight, so the Solar Mate Point 5 is supplied with a six foot (1.8m)
cable to connect the solar panel to the light unit (extensions are
available - see below). From a full charge the light unit can provide
illumination for up to 3 hours per day.
Installation of this solar lighting kit really is very simple - we've done it (see the images at the bottom of the page). If you can use a screwdriver, you can mount the solar panel, the light unit, and the remote control holder.
Tip: We mounted the cradle for the remote control underneath the light unit (which houses the infra-red receiver) so when the remote control is sitting in its holder, it functions as a wall mounted light switch.
