Designed for use by one person, the Junior Wormery is an exciting new
product that makes an
ideal
and unusual gift. Wormeries are not only
fascinating products but are also
eco-friendly
waste converters. They divert food waste away from the bin and turn
organic waste into
something useful – worm compost. The Junior Wormery is the ideal way to
get kids interested in recycling.
Turn your waste into something valuable
The Junior Wormery will create
quality
compost plus a
nutritious
liquid plant feed that is perfect to feed all plant life,
inside or out, including your vegetable patch or lawn. All Wormeries
come equipped with
everything you need, including worm bedding, anti-acid
lime mix and even the worms (Tiger Worms or Eisenia Fetida). The Junior
Wormery is
easy to
start-up: detailed instructions and helpful advice are
included, as well as a freephone Wormery help line.
Why a Wormery?
Wormeries are
incredibly
simple and
natural waste converters that take cooked and uncooked food waste,
shredded newspaper, cardboard, tea bags and egg cartons (or other
similar items) and divert them away from the bin. In the UK we usually
send nearly 7 million tonnes of food waste or peelings to landfill! So
do your bit to cut
the total down the interesting way.
A simple and clean way of producing your own compost
Using the Junior Wormery is an almost
odourless process as
the worms eat the waste right away rather than letting it decompose. If
you do smell something from your wormery it is most likely to be a
healthy composty smell that is a sign you are on your way to making a
beautiful compost and
a liquid feed (sometimes referred to as 'Black Gold'). It takes only a
couple of weeks to compost a whole handful of waste and over a year you
can fill and harvest one whole bin of nutritious compost. The
liquid feed that settles at the bottom of the Junior Wormery can be
collected on average every 3 or 4 weeks.
The design:
The self-contained Wormeries feature a
unique patented internal draining
system which works to create a pit of liquid feed towards the bottom of
the chamber, easily collectable via a tap. Worms are 'surface-feeders'
so they will always work their way to the top of the bin leaving their
worm compost settled beneath them.
Assembled in the UK, The
Junior Wormery included a rubberised foam lid-seal that keeps worms in
and flies out, as well as a Brass Aeration Vent for airflow. These
features mean the Wormery is suitable for
indoor and outdoor use.
Another important feature of the Junior Wormery is its
5 year guarantee.
Benefits for you, your garden and the globe!
Not only does the Junior Wormery
cut down on landfill waste
(in turn reducing methane levels in the air which lead to global
warming), it also helpfully slims down your bin contents and means you
need fewer polluting bonfires. For your garden, the
Junior Wormery provides nutrients that mean you can water less and
substitute the use of chemical
fertilisers and pesticides. Best of all, the worm compost
increases the rate of growth and the overall health of your plants!
