Common questions about the Trashbasher:
Q.
Will the contents get stuck in the bin and not empty when collected?
A. No. Over 18 months
of trials using excessive force when compacting, no wheelie bin has
ever failed to release its contents.
Q. Will Trash Basher work with my recycled waste?
A. Yes. In areas where
the council provides a recycling wheelie bin. Reusable waste like
cardboard boxes and plastic bottles tend to be high volume. Trash
Basher is very effective at compacting these items allowing more space
for further reusable waste (remove tops from plastic bottles prior to
disposal)
Q. Why should I Compact my waste?
A. Trash Basher is not
intended to encourage people to throw more away. Our main objective is
to make sure that rubbish is contained within the wheelie bin and not
littering the streets.
Q. Because Trash Basher gets more in the wheelie bin won't we fill
landfill sites quicker?
A. No. By compacting
the rubbish in your bin you are removing air from the overall volume.
Air that is trapped in landfill sites obviously takes up unnecessary
space and leads to a variety of problems.
Q. Is Trash Basher just encouraging people to create more waste?
A. No. Trash Basher is
simply compacting rubbish that is littering the streets and susceptible
to foraging animals by making room for this in the wheelie bin.
We encourage the use of Trash Basher in conjunction with recycling
wheelie bins to reduce landfill. However, refuse that can not be easily
reused is better contained in the bin rather that littering the streets.
Q. Can I compact garden waste into my wheelie bin?
A. No. Garden waste
should not be placed in your domestic bin. All garden waste should be
deposed of in the correct manor at your local tip or alternatively
composted.
