A high quality, medium sized, Wood Store

The shape and style of the Classic Log Store will complement the design of your garden. The base is made from boards of Larch while the roof is made from Spruce trees. The deliberate use of untreated wood will not affect the lifespan of the log store as long as it is located in a well-ventilated position. It is fine to apply preservative or stain to the product if you wish. The log store is supplied as a self-assembly kit, complete with fixings, an adapter for the special screws used, and step by step diagrams to explain how to assemble it (sent by email with the confirmation of despatch). Don't worry, only simple tools are required for assembly.

The complete log store base is 155cm wide (61 inches), 55cm deep (22 inches) and 135 cm high. The roof overhangs 7cm to each side (2.7 inches) and 15 cm to the front (6 inches). The one inch thick boards used in the base, back and sides have air gaps to ensure that the logs are well ventilated to dry them as fast as possible. The design of the log store allows you to stack two rows of ten inch logs (25cm). This log length suits a large range of fire grates and log-burning stoves. The total stacking space is 0.66 cubic metres (using the front opening height of 83cm) which is about half a van load or about the quantity of randomly stacked logs that will fit into a builder's dump bag.

Why dry firewood?

When wood is first cut it is green and moist. If you burn the wood straight away it will hiss, it may spit, and it will be very smoky. It will also be hard to light and will not burn easily. Wood should ideally be stored for two years before burning but you can get away with storing during a summer to get most of the benefit. The wood needs airflow to dry out. Storing it in airtight conditions (by putting a tarpaulin across it) will have the same effect as leaving your wet washing in a pile and not hanging it up. Over time it will go dank and mouldy. Use a log store to create the fastest drying conditions for your winter fuel.

Delivery

For transit, the log store is "flat packed" into a package that weighs 75kg (165lb) so it is important that you, the customer be present to help the driver with off-loading. Once it is off-loaded, the packing bands can be cut and the individual pieces carried to wherever you want to assembly it.

The unit can be delivered to any address in mainland UK. Most addresses can be reached within two days of order. Delivery to some areas of Scotland can take 4-5 days. The specific delivery date will be agreed with the customer after ordering.
