With gas and electricity prices rising many people are turning back the clock and using firewood to heat their homes. Our four feet wide log store is ideal for the medium volume user to keep their wood supply tidy and allow it to dry. The drier your firewood, the better it burns, and the smaller the smoke residue that is deposited in your chimney. Our log store allows air to flow around the logs, drying them out and seasoning them, to give you more flame, and less smoke. It comes with a shelf for your kindling.

A garden log store to season firewood

This log store will arrive on a pallet and is assembled by you using basic tools (and a spare pair of hands helps too). It has a strong and rugged design using 6 inch by 1 inch planks, and is also available in a six feet width for higher volume wood burners. The wood store is made from timber that is pressure treated using Osmose MicroPro technology (this is essentially a copper treatment) to give an extended life. The manufacturer is so confident in the quality of this product that it is backed by a 15 year Guarantee. A shelf is supplied on which to store kindling.

All the wood used is finest quality FSC certified timber meaning that it comes from properly managed sustainable forests. The entire process from de-barking to machining, manufacturing to pressure treatment for an extended life, is done with the highest level of care, attention and quality.

Why dry firewood?

When wood is first cut it is green and moist. If you burn the wood straight away it will hiss, it may spit, and it will be very smoky. It will also be hard to light and will not burn easily. Wood should ideally be stored for two years before burning but you can get away with storing during a summer to get most of the benefit. The wood needs airflow to dry out. Storing it in airtight conditions (by putting a tarpaulin across it) will have the same effect as leaving your wet washing in a pile and not hanging it up. Over time it will go dank and mouldy. Use a log store to create the fastest drying conditions for your winter fuel.
