The Ecofan is a heat powered
fan that gently blows warm air from your wood burning stove into your
room. It
does not use batteries or
mains power but it does improve the warmth of you room, and
reduce the amount of fuel you burn. We all know that heat rises and
when it comes to your
wood-burning
stove this heat can collect in the alcove or at ceiling level
above the stove. The Ecofan will circulate this rising warm air away
from the stove into the living area. The Ecofan generates its own power
and
circulates heat from your
stove around the room to keep you warm and cosy.
How does the Ecofan work?
The
Ecofan is genius in design. Placed on top of your stove, the base of
the Ecofan stays warm from the heat that is generated, but the top of
the fan will stay cool. This
heat
differential is harnessed to generate electricity that cause
the blades of the fan to rotate,
so as the heat rises from your stove the motion of the blades
distributes it back into the room. As your stove heats up and
cools down, so the blades of the Ecofan automatically spin faster and
slower.
You'll never need to remember to turn it on, switch it off or check its
working. The Ecofan is
entirely
self-sufficient.
The Ecofan 812 is the new big brother of the Ecofan 800
The Ecofan 812 has a
unique high
efficiency blade
design, large cooling fins, and is
capable of circulating 50% more air than the Ecofan 800. It replaces
its predecessor, the Ecofan 802.
Ecofan 812
- Capable of circulating up to 150 CFM (Cubic feet of air per
minute)
- 248mm high (9.75") excluding handle
- Base is 121mm by 82mm (4.75x3.25")
- 1 year warranty
- Supplied with a black base with gold blades.
No assembly is required
for the Ecofan - simply place it on a flat surface on top of your
wood-burning stove and
let it get to work. You'll not only be warmer, you'll also be happier
knowing you're
not using any
electricity or batteries to get the absolute best out of your
stove.
A technical explanation for the non-believers
It sounds hard to believe, but the Ecofan really
does not need mains power or batteries.
These fans have a thermoelectric module which acts as a small generator
to power the fan's motor. When this generator module experiences a heat
differential between its top and bottom surfaces, it generates
electricity. The base of the fan heats the bottom surface of the
module, while the top of the module is kept cooler by the fan's top
cooling fins. The generator module is a unique semiconductor device
that relies upon the
Seebeck effect
to generate electricity. When two dissimilar semiconductors (p-type and
n-type) at the same temperature are connected together they establish a
static electric potential difference. With the introduction of a
temperature difference heat flows across the joined semiconductors
which in turn permits electrons to flow. With the electron flow or
current comes the ability to power electrical devices such as the fan's
motor.
Delivery
The Ecofan is a relatively heavy parcel
so it
will be sent by courier or Parcel Force. This means that deliveries to
the Highlands of Scotland or any offshore location will incur an
additional charge. If you would like delivery to the Highlands or
Islands please call us before ordering and we can quote you the
additional delivery charge.
