The
Green Cone
allows you to dispose of food waste naturally –
including meat, fish, and cooked food – rather than sending it to
landfill. It will reduce the amount of waste you send to
landfill by
around 20%, significantly reducing your carbon footprint. The Green
Cone digests
food waste
down to its natural components:
water, carbon dioxide, and a small residue. It takes all
cooked
and uncooked food waste, including meat, fish, bones, dairy products,
fruit and vegetables, tea bags, coffee grounds, bread, egg shells, and
other organic kitchen waste. Using the Green Cone you'll be able to
dispose of food waste
immediately. This means no more smelly bin in
your kitchen or stinking dustbin outside. Your household
waste will be
kept clean for recycling. The Green Cone is
not suitable for garden waste.
Low Maintenance and Simple to Use
The Green Cone is easy to install and simple to maintain. As
soon
as the disposal unit is set up in your garden, it will provide you with
a year-round solution for
eco-friendly
food waste disposal. You
will only need to remove the small amount of residue produced by the
Green Cone once every few years. The residue does not need
mixing
or turning, and can be dug into any suitable area of soil.
A
4-litre kitchen caddy
is included for collecting food waste and
carrying it to the Green Cone disposal unit. No smells are
emitted from the Green Cone, so it will not attract vermin or
flies. The Green Cone's unobtrusive colour is designed to fit
in
with any garden or outdoor space.
Environmental Benefits
The Green Cone will reduce the waste the average family sends to
landfill by around
20%. Less landfill waste means fewer lorries on the road
carrying
the waste, and reduces the need for environmentally degrading landfill
sites
Green Cone's food waste digestion system produces considerably
less
methane than food waste sent to landfill. Methane is a
greenhouse gas
twenty times more potent than carbon dioxide. The Green Cone works
using the natural energy of solar heat. No
mechanical machinery, electricity, gas, or fossil fuels are required.
How does it work?
The Green Cone uses the power of the sun to create a solar heating
effect that circulates air through food waste. This circulated air
facilitates the growth of beneficial micro-organisms and bacteria to
aerobically break down
food waste. Digested food waste is
converted into water, carbon dioxide, and a small amount of residue.
The
included accelerator
powder helps to break down waste when your
Green Cone does not benefit from a full day of sunshine, for example
during long periods of cold weather. The accelerator powder
promotes the growth of bacteria that helps the food waste break
down. You'll find it beneficial to use powder for the first
few
weeks after installing the Green Cone. Accelerator power is a
mix
of safe natural bacteria on a cereal base.
How much waste can it handle?
The Green Cone has an 80 litre capacity and can digest up to one kilo
of food waste per day, the
typical food waste produced by a family of four. Read the
