Efergy achieves this in two ways:
- Instant Power Use. Switch the monitor to the kW mode and watch the power consumption change instantly. The monitor receives updates every 6 seconds, so power use from switching on the TV or making a cup of coffee is seen. It makes you think twice!
- Unique CPU Memory. Each day the efergy meter records how much power you have used, and saves it in it;s memory by date, week and month. In memory mode you can simply see how much it's going to cost you every day, week and month. The effects on energy saving habits can now be seen instantly. Simply pull up the data by scrolling through the dates, and compare times and usage.

The sensor clips around the electricity meter's live feed wire, where it measures the total electrical power entering the home/office. A signal is then transmitted to the wireless display, where it shows how much power is being consumed.
