The ECO3 is the latest and most sophisticated version of the Eco
Kettle. It allows you to
heat
your water to one of three temperatures: 80 degrees (which
is ideal for specialty teas), 90 degrees (which is perfect for coffee)
or 100 degrees (boiling). The Eco Kettle also differs from an ordinary
kettle because it
allows you to
boil just
the volume of water that you need. This means
you save water, it is quicker to boil, and it
saves electricity. The benefits of
saving money, the
environment, and time, mean that this ECO Kettle pays for itself in so
many ways.
Boiling less water saves you electricity, water, and time
The
Eco Kettle has been invented to specifically meet the challenge of
reducing the amount of
energy wasted by overfilling your kettle. With
the Eco Kettle, you can fill the kettle to the brim and simply press
the central button in the lid to release a specific amount of water
(1-to-8 cups worth) into the boiling chamber. This easy, simple method
of accurately ensuring that you boil only the water that you need means
that you can save the planet while on your tea break!
Using
the Eco Kettle will save electricity, it will save water, it will save
you time (boiling less water takes less time) and
it will save you money.
And what's more, choosing the easy Eco-Kettle-way of conserving energy
while boiling water, helps minimise carbon dioxide emission levels.
It's an easy, simple and valuable choice to make.
Heat your water to the right temperature for your drink
The greatest development of this Eco Kettle is the ability to
set the temperature to which you
would like the water to be heated. If you prefer specialty
teas, then setting the Eco Kettle to heat the water to 80 degrees will
ensure you enjoy your tea at just the right temperature.
Perhaps you are in a rush. If you boil the kettle to make your brew,
you will have to sit and wait for it to cool before you can drink it.
Why not heat the water to a lower level. It will
reach the desired temperature
faster, and you will be able to enjoy your drink sooner.
Heating your water to a temperature lower than boiling when you need it
has the added benefit of saving you a lot of energy. It takes much more
energy to convert water to steam (at boiling point) than it does to
heat water by a degree. So
avoiding
the overboil (when your kettle is boiling before it
switches off) saves you money.
Endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust
In
independent consumer trials, directed by the Energy Saving Trust, the
ECO kettle used over
30%
less energy than standard kettles. Defra
estimate that if everybody in the UK used an ECO Kettle, we would save
1,270,000,000 KWh of electricity every year!
The Eco Kettle in Operation
Check that the control knob is in the raised position,
pull it back, and then open the hinged lid.
Fill the main reservoir to the MAXIMUM level and close the lid using a
firm downward pressure.
Ensure that the control knob clicks back into the closed position and
the lid is securely closed.
Place the ECO Kettle on its power base and plug in the power
cord to a standard domestic power socket and switch on. |
 |
|
You are now ready to decide how much water you wish to
boil –
from one cup to the full kettle!
To deliver water to the boiling chamber, press down
firmly on
the control knob until water flows into the boiling chamber.
Watch the water level rise in the front window until it
reaches the required mark.
For your guidance:
- One small cup = 150 to 200ml
- One large cup/mug = 200 to 300ml
|
 |
|
When the control knob is released the
valve
closes and the water in the boiling chamber is ready to boil.
Always ensure there is enough water to reach the “Min
Fill”
mark (approximately one cup = 200ml).
Never fill above the “Max Boil” mark on the boiling
chamber
window as water may be ejected during boiling.
Switch the ECO Kettle ON by selecting one of the buttons
on
the power base.
80 deg,(speciality teas etc), 90
deg ( Coffee) or Boiling
The selected button will flash to indicate the ECO Kettle is ON.
|
 |
|
When the selected temperature is reached , an audible
alarm
will sound and your ECO Kettle will switch OFF automatically.
You can simply stop the heating process at any time by
pressing the selected button again. Please note that when you select
80deg or 90deg the electronic control cycles the heating element on and
off to ensure that the selected temperature is not exceeded.
Always wait until the button stops
flashing and
the alarm
sounds to achieve the correct temperature.
If you do not use the water immediately, it can be
brought
back to the selected temperature by pressing the button again. It may
be necessary to wait a few seconds before the switch can be reset.
|
 |
|
If
at any time you wish to heat all of the
water in the kettle – including the water
contained in the reservoir simply lock the valve open by
pressing the control knob down firmly and rotating it clockwise.
Do not leave the valve in the locked position as this
will
prevent your ECO Kettle from saving energy and may make the lid seal
less effective.
